Covered for the walk. Fingertips for the next task.
Some parts of a commute call for a covered hand. Others involve a ticket, a small zip pull, or a phone screen. This mitten concept brings those moments into one textile layout: a graphite open-finger base with an attached rust-colored hood that folds over the fingers. The thumb stays covered. A navy cuff completes the color story without adding a large badge or decorative hardware.
↶ The change happens on the back of the hand
Each rounded hood is intended to hinge from a sewn connection on the back of the glove. Fold it away from the palm when bare fingertips are needed, then guide it into the plain fabric keeper at the cuff. Return the hood over the fingers before continuing the walk. Final hinge placement and keeper tension need physical testing; illustrations should not be used as proof that every hand can operate it one-handed.
Three details to notice
First, the open-finger base stops below the fingertips rather than creating five individual removable caps. Second, the hood forms one shared mitten space. Third, the cuff remains a simple ribbed textile opening. There are no magnets, batteries, or electronic heating parts in the design. Fewer hard components keep the intended look quiet, but do not establish a particular warmth rating or weather-resistance level.
A practical pause, not a rushed maneuver
Stop somewhere safe before changing the hood position or checking your phone. The product is intended for walking and waiting, not technical cycling or tasks requiring certified hand protection. With fingers exposed, coverage is reduced. If conditions require fully covered gloves throughout, select an accessory suited to those conditions instead of leaving the hood folded back.
Fit is more than the cuff opening
The approved chart needs palm width, thumb length, and closed-hood length. Test the hood with a relaxed hand and a gentle grip. Do not overfill the mitten cavity or pull the keeper loop around unrelated objects. Follow the finished product care label and let the pair dry before putting it into a coat pocket.
